Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biometrics in Banking industry


Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh was born in 1976 in Thai Binh. He graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia with an excellent degree in 2000 and earned a master degree at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia in 2004. From 2000 to 2008, he worked for the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (RIPT), then moved to the Joint Stock Company for Telecoms and Informatics (CTIN) holding position of Deputy Director of Software Center. In 2018 he moved to VNPT-IT with the position of Deputy Director of Solutions Center, System Integration. Mr. Vinh has a lot of experience in the field of software development as well as integrating solutions of major firms. At VNPT-IT, Mr. Vinh focuses on researching and directing the development of solutions using new technology aiming at helping businesses, the government to carry out the digital transformation process more effectively, especially in the field of biometrics.
During his free time, Mr. Vinh is interested in and learns about philosophy, Buddhism, fitness, sports.


Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently a global trend and widely applied in numerous fields, in which the technology of biometric identification, OCR and integration with Video. In the field of banking-finance, the application of the new AI Technologies is the trend for banks to successfully conduct their digital transformation, improve safety & security of online transactions as well as reduce service time and enhance customer experience. In the digital environment, electronic identification is an important factor for client authentication and security enhancement. Europe has PSD2 which forces online transactions to undergo comprehensive customer authentication (2 independent authentication factors), and biometric authentication will be a factor that ensures the customer experience as well as improving online trading’s safety. In Vietnam, banks are focusing on eKYC to enable onboarding of new customers online without a certain number of activities in digitizing customers’ data with integrated biometric to enhance the existing customer experience, optimize existing transactions and ensure safety for all online transactions. The application of AI in building the client DATABASE is being digitized along with the biometric identification system, OCR papers are also very suitable for the orientation of building the national electronic identification platform dispersed in Vietnam (therefore, Telco becomes the IDP-identity provider).
